Position: Microgreen & Plant Nursery Crew Member

 

About the Position: This season we are looking for an individual to specialize in our microgreen production as well as manage our field vegetable & flower crop propagation plan. If you love seeding and watching plants come to life then this is the dream job for you! The candidate will work closely with both managers to learn all things plant propagation, nursery and greenhouse management as well as assist with our weekly indoor microgreen operations. With proper and adequate training, the candidate will confidently and independently be encouraged to take the lead on these specific aspects of the farm. We’re looking for someone who is plant passion driven and self-motivated, can work independently and use their time efficiently, is detail oriented and loves to keep things organized. Previous experience working on a vegetable farm or in greenhouse operations is definitely an asset but we are also willing to train the right individual. This candidate must be comfortable with some physically demanding work and standing for longer periods of time (anti-fatigue mats provided!) and have their own transportation to and from the farm. Duration: April – November 2025 (potential for position to be extended into the winter months with reduced hours)

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Microgreen Operations: tasks include seeding and harvesting microgreens on a weekly basis, packing and organizing microgreen orders, tracking microgreen seed & soil inventory for ordering, keeping work stations tidy and clean, performing other related duties as required.​

  • Plant Nursery & Greenhouse Operations: tasks include following 2026 seeding schedule and seeding vegetables and flowers according to crop plan, tracking seed & soil inventory for ordering, potting up seedlings, assisting with organizing our annual spring plant sale, watering & fertilization maintenance, preparing seedlings for field plantings, performing other related duties as required.​

  • Other: general cleaning and tidying of work areas.

  • Option to assist with more field tasks if interested.

 

Qualifications:

  • Able to follow instructions carefully and accurately

  • Maintains attention to detail while keeping a steady pace of work

  • Self-motivated and able to work in a fast-paced environment

  • Positive attitude, sense of humour and a keen interest in organic farming

  • Willingness to perform physically demanding, repetitive tasks

  • Comfortable working indoors in a warehouse setting as well as outdoors in all weather conditions

  • Comfortable working alone and with a team

  • Experience working on organic vegetable farms is an asset

  • Experience growing microgreens or with indoor growing is an asset

  • Experience working in a greenhouse is an asset

  • Experience with using crop production software is an asset

  • Applicants must have reliable transportation to and from the farm

Position Details:

  • Work Hours: April-November approx. 20-30 hrs/week depending on time of the season. Potential to become full time position during peak growing season if interested.​

  • Applicants must be available Mondays, Tuesdays & Thursdays 8am-5pm, start & finish times may be subject to change with prior notice. Paid 1hr lunch. ​

  • Starting Wage: $20/hr. Prior experience is an asset and may be taken into wage considerations.​

  • Weekly vegetable share.

  • 2 paid sick days/year

  • $200 work wear reimbursement/year

Position: Delivery Driver​


Duration: Starting immediately, on-going

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist with loading vehicle according to delivery manifest

  • Follow route and schedule as outlined, ensuring on-time deliveries

  • Clean vehicle after each delivery day (sweep cargo space, wipe down console, etc.)

  • Inspect vehicle on a regular basis and report any issues or warning lights to owners immediately

  • Adhere to all Ministry of Transportation laws regarding incident reporting and driver responsibilities.

  • Clean and return delivery equipment to proper storage areas at end of day

 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 25 years of age (for insurance purposes)

  • Valid G-Class Ontario Driver’s License with clean driving record (please provide driver's abstract upon interview if you are licensed in Quebec)

  • Very reliable

  • Able to safely lift up to 40lbs (carts and dollys provided)

  • Excellent customer service skills and positive attitude

  • Knowledge and experience driving in the city of Ottawa and surrounding areas is an asset

  • Experience with delivery driving and/or working in food production and service industry is an asset.

  • Experience operating cargo vehicles is an asset

  • Interest in local food systems and organic farming is an asset

  • Fluent in English and French is an asset

  • Applicants must have reliable transportation to and from the farm

 

Position Details:

  • Part-time - 1 day (Fridays)/week. Approx. hours 9:30am-4:30pm

  • Starting Wage: $20.00/hr

  • 2 Paid Sick Days/Year

  • $200 Workwear Stipend

  • Complimentary vegetable share
