Position: Field Crew Member

Duration: May – November 2022 (start & finish dates TBD)

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Field Work: bed prep, seeding and planting, weed management, irrigation management and greenhouse work

  • Harvest Activities: harvesting to order, post-harvest duties (washing & packing)

  • Building Projects: assist with high tunnels, outbuilding & fence maintenance, field storage stations, etc.

  • Indoor Microgreen Activities: harvesting and seeding (including prep work and clean-up)

  • Other: general cleaning and tidying of work areas

 

Qualifications:

  • Able to follow instructions carefully and accurately

  • Maintains attention to detail while keeping a steady pace of work

  • Self-motivated and able to work in a fast-paced environment

  • Positive attitude, sense of humour and a keen interest in organic farming

  • Willingness to perform physically demanding, repetitive and strenuous tasks

  • Comfortable working indoors in a warehouse setting as well as outdoors in all weather conditions

  • Comfortable working alone and with a team

  • Experience working on organic vegetable farms/gardens is an asset

  • Applicants must have reliable transportation to and from the farm

 

Position Details:

  • Part-time and Full-time positions available, as we are a small team so commitment to a full season of work is very important

  • Work Hours: 7am-5pm, start & finish times may be adjusted depending on time of season.

  • Wage: starting at $16-18 per hour depending on experience. Successful applicants will receive a complementary vegetable share.

Position: Delivery Driver


Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist with loading van according to delivery manifest

  • Follow route and schedule as outlined, ensuring on-time deliveries

  • Clean vehicle after each delivery day (sweep cargo space, wipe down console, etc.) 

  • Inspect vehicle on a regular basis and report any issues or warning lights to owners immediately 

  • Clean and return delivery equipment to proper storage areas at end of day

 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 25 years of age (for insurance purposes)

  • Valid G-Class Ontario Driver’s License with clean driving record

  • Very reliable

  • Excellent customer service skills and positive attitude

  • Knowledge and experience driving in the city of Ottawa and surrounding areas is an asset

  • Interest in local food systems and organic farming is an asset

  • Fluent in English; and French is an asset

  • Applicants must have reliable transportation to and from the farm

 

Position Details:

  • Part-time -  1-3 days/week depending on time of the season

  • Wage: $18/hr  

  • Successful candidates will be asked to provide proof of their COVID-19 vaccination status
