Position: Microgreen and & Field Work Team Member​

Start Date: 

 

March/April 2025, starting at 3 days/week (30hrs) and working up to 4 days/week (40hrs) by end of April/May 2025 to November 2025. Performance and wage review will take place at end of contract to see if extension to year round position is a good fit. More details below.

Duties & Responsibilities:

 

Microgreen Operations: tasks include seeding microgreens on a weekly basis, watering microgreens and grow room maintenance, harvesting microgreens on a weekly basis, packing and organizing microgreen orders, compiling microgreen seed & soil inventory for ordering, keeping work stations tidy and clean, performing other related duties as required.

 

Greenhouse Operations: tasks include following 2025 seeding schedule and seeding vegetables and flowers according to crop plan, potting up seedlings, watering maintenance, general greenhouse maintenance, performing other related duties as required.

Field Work: assist with bed prep, seeding and planting, weed management, irrigation management and greenhouse work.

Vegetable Harvest Activities: harvesting to order, post harvest duties (washing & packing)

Building Projects: assist with high tunnels, outbuilding & fence maintenance, field storage stations, etc.

 

Other: general cleaning and tidying of work areas

 

Qualifications:

• 2+ seasons of farming experience and greenhouse propagation is an asset

• Prior experience with microgreens is an asset

• Management experience is an asset

• Full Driver’s License is an asset

• Able to follow instructions carefully and accurately

• Maintains attention to detail while keeping a steady pace of work

• Self-motivated and able to work in a fast-paced environment

• Positive attitude, sense of humour and a keen interest in growing microgreens & farming

• Willingness to perform physically demanding, repetitive and strenuous tasks

• Able to lift 50lbs on a regular basis

• Comfortable working indoors in a warehouse & greenhouse setting as well as outdoors in all weather conditions

• Comfortable working alone and with a team

• Applicants must have reliable transportation to and from the farm

 

Position Details:

• Work Hours: March-April 2025 – approx. 30hrs/week, May-November 2025 – approx. 40hrs/week. 

• 7am-5pm, start & finish times may be adjusted depending on time of season.

• Starting Wage: $20/hr. Prior experience is an asset and may be taken into wage considerations.

• Successful applicants will receive a complementary vegetable share.

• 2 paid sick days/year

• $200 work wear reimbursement
